State Board Reaffirms WTS Qualifications

On Wednesday, March 13 2019, the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners reaffirmed their position that licensed Water Treatment Specialists can make the connections necessary to install water treatment equipment.

According to the letter from Lisa Hill, Executive Director, Chapter 1904 of the Texas Occupations Code grants licensed Water Treatment Specialists the authority to connect water treatment equipment "to all necessary utility connections in residential, commercial or industrial facilities".

The letter further clarifies that section 1301.53 of the Plumbing License Law (PLL) "explicitly exempts Water Treatment Specialists and their work from licensure requirements under the PLL."

Association members can download the reaffirmation letter from TWQA's Technical Library. Members will be automatically directed to the TWQA logon page before continuing to the Technical Library. Once in the library, click on the image entitled '2019 TSBPE WTS Reaffirmation' to access the letter.
